Hawzah News Agency- In this program, professors and scholars from academic centers and various religious groups presented their articles on the topic of the symposium.
The Chancellor of Al-Mustafa Islamic College, honoring the memory of the former President of Iran, Martyr Hujjat al-Islam Raisi, emphasized Al-Mustafa University's belief in the role of religion in modeling coexistence and a better life and the foundation for the development of societies.
In the following, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Majid Saffar, while extending his gratitude for the organizers, continued his speech by recalling a historical image; A picture that the President of Uganda had considered worthy of being preserved in the Uganda Museum on several official occasions and a reminder of the practical coexistence of different religions and denominations in Uganda. This picture has recorded the historic presence of the martyred President of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Uganda National Mosque as a Shiite scholar and the meeting with the Grand Mufti and the head of the Ugandan Church in a single frame.
The Iranian ambassador to Uganda further introduced the special guest of the opening, Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Nawab, the representative of the Supreme Leader in the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, and invited him to deliver the opening speech.
Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Nawab addressed the topic of “The Role of Religion in Creating Peace” and, referring to the root of “salam” in the word Islam, considered peace to be inherent in Islam and its realization a divine and human path that, relying on the teachings of the Quran, manifests itself in all aspects of human life, including social relations.
In the next part of the symposium, speakers with different religious perspectives presented speeches such as “Opportunities for expanding interfaith dialogue in building peace in the contemporary world”, “The need for interfaith dialogue to foster tolerance in the contemporary pluralistic world”, “Teaching interfaith dialogue in education for peace”, “Dialogue as a bridge to cross differences, and overcome fear or distrust”, “Interfaith dialogue and its impact on unity in diversity”, “The role of education in changing attitudes towards acceptance and respect for belief in the 21st century”, “Creating mutual understanding between different groups”, “The role of interfaith dialogue in community development”, “The role of interfaith youth initiatives in strengthening peace”, “Discourse on religion and identity”, and “Creating peaceful societies amidst religious differences”.
These articles were presented in the form of paper presentations by professors from several universities and from various Islamic, Christian and Buddhist groups.
