Hawzah News Agency- the office of Shia scholar Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi issued a statement regarding the insult to the holy sanctities of Muslims in burning the Holy Quran in Sweden.
The text of the statement is as follows:
To the government and people of Sweden
What we have witnessed these days from the insult and boldness of some ignorant people and enemies of human right to the Holy Quran and religious leaders is a source of shame. Therefore, we warn the government and people of Sweden:
First: Insulting and violating the feelings of millions of people has nothing to do with human rights and freedom, and the thinkers believe that freedom of expression is having respect for others.
Second: Book burning has happened many times to humanity, but we remind the (civilized) nations that this incident marks the worst period in the history of civilizations and those who commit it are considered as biggest criminals in history.
Third: Burning the symbol of honor and the holy book of a nation is a declaration of war against them, and it is a barbaric act that is considered in the context of terrorist acts.
Fourth: What causes us more pain is that this disgusting action was carried out with a political motive and was accompanied by the worst abuse and in the ugliest way.
Fifth: Without a doubt, Sweden is against insulting symbols of sovereignty such as the flag, embassies, etc., so how can it accept insulting the biggest symbol of Muslims.
