Hawzah News Agency- Baghdad Friday Prayer Imam Ayatollah Sayyed Yassin Mousavi has spoken on the current developments in the region, asserting that what happened in Syria may affect Iraq and the Iraqi political system.

He noted that the Americans had given the Iraqi Prime Minister guarantees and assured him that they had prevented the Zionist regime from attacking the Popular Mobilization Forces or assassinating Iraqi figures, and stated,” These guarantees are for the remaining term of the Biden administration and that the situation will change after Trump comes to power.”

Ayatollah Sayyed Yassin Mousavi continued by stating that Trump officially annexed the Golan Heights to Israel during his previous presidency and said,” Trump is claiming that Israel is small and that parts of Syria, Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia should be annexed to Israel, and he will also try to divide the rest of the Islamic countries.”

“According to this plan, if this division does not take place in some countries such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE, their wealth should be divided, meaning that Arab countries should give part of their wealth to America.” He added.

Elsewhere in his remarks the Iraqi scholar added, "There are those in Iraq who do not believe in a unified Iraq, led by the Kurds who are backed by the Zionist regime, as well as some Sunnis who have taken refuge in Türkiye and are calling for the division of Iraq, while Erdogan is seeking to dominate parts of Iraq."

Ayatollah Mousavi pointed to the problems regarding the Iraqi government and the people's legitimate demands, saying, "Despite all these problems, we believe that Iraq is independent due to Iran's support against US, otherwise it would have become a puppet in the hands of the Americans and the Zionists, like other Arab countries."

He concluded by saying that Iraqi people should be proud of the power of their army and armed forces, “we are strong, and this power will help us resist all challenges." He said.
