Laylat Al-Raghaib; A Night of Blessing and Mercy

Laylat Al-Raghaib is night of blessing and mercy and an opportunity for wishes to come true, a cleric said.

Hawzah News Agency- Hujjat al-Islam Hossein Yusefi, a Quranic sciences scholar, added that during this night, the gates of divine mercy open and divine angels descend on earth.

He made the remarks ahead of Laylat Al-Raghaib. Muslims worldwide will celebrate Laylat al-Raghaib, Islam’s blessed Night of Wishes, tonight, the first Thursday of the lunar Hijri month of Rajab.

Muslims traditionally recite a special set of prayers and read from the Holy Quran on this night.

It is believed that every wish, request and hope will be fulfilled if asked for on Laylat al-Raghaib.

Raghaib comes from the root “regabe” in Arabic, which means to desire, seek or tend toward.

In his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam Yusefi said Laylat al-Raghaib is a time when the doors of divine mercy are opened to the servants of God, providing an opportunity for people to sincerely ask for their desires with pure hearts.

This night is a perfect time for repentance and returning to God, and the faithful should take advantage of this opportunity to attain divine grace, he added.

The cleric also said that the months of Rajab and Shaaban serve as a preparation for the blessed month of Ramadan.

During Ramadan, the Almighty sets up a competition, and to participate in it, one must be well-prepared, he stated, adding that those who can achieve this readiness are the ones who take the time to prepare themselves in the months of Rajab and Shaaban.
