US maneuvering won’t shift Iran’s Lebanon stance: Hezbollah official

Iran conditioned the memorandum of understanding on a ceasefire in Lebanon, a member of Hezbollah’s Political Council, Ghaleb Abou Zainab, stated on Thursday.

Hawzah News Agency- In an exclusive interview for Al Mayadeen, Abou Zainab stressed that "the US administration quickly moved to create a Washington track for later bargaining."

He stressed, however, that Washington's attempt to sidestep the Lebanese file, which he described as maneuvering, by promoting a separate Lebanese track will not change Iran's steadfast position on Lebanon.

Calling the framework agreement "scandalous", the senior Hezbollah official told Al Mayadeen that even "Lebanese political components that supported direct negotiations rejected it''.

Abou Zainab further said that the framework agreement signed by the Lebanese authorities represents a "net gain for Israel and a catastrophe for Lebanon''.

In an interview for Al Mayadeen on Wednesday, Wakim leveled sharp criticism at the Lebanese leadership, accusing it of complicity in ceding parts of Lebanon to Israeli control, emphasizing that "this agreement will fall, and with it will fall the authority that signed it".

Wakim strongly defended the legitimacy of the Resistance in Lebanon, saying it would endure and prevent the enemy from continuing its aggression. “The people’s awareness is an essential condition for preventing sedition among the Lebanese,” he said.
