Muslim Scholars Association of Lebanon: Resistance Remains Strong, Decisive Battle Not Far Off

Lebanon’s Muslim Scholars Association has reaffirmed that the resistance front remains firmly present and powerful, warning that a decisive confrontation with the Israeli regime may not be far away.

Hawzah News Agency- In a statement issued following its periodic meeting, the association noted that the current days coincide with the anniversaries of the martyrdom of prominent resistance commanders, including Abbas al-Musawi, Ragheb Harb, and Imad Mughniyeh. The group described them as pivotal figures in the long path of resistance against Israeli occupation.

According to the statement, these commanders laid the foundations of a resistance movement that began “from zero,” at a time when Israeli forces had occupied large parts of Lebanon and advanced to Beirut, Palestinian resistance factions had withdrawn under pressure, and regional dynamics were moving toward political settlements that ultimately culminated in agreements such as the Oslo Accords.

The association said the fallen leaders relied on “faith and the will to victory,” achieving successive gains that forced Israel to withdraw from southern Lebanon on May 25, 2000.

2006 War and the “Balance of Deterrence”

The statement further addressed the 2006 war, asserting that when Israel attempted to retaliate for its earlier withdrawal, resistance forces under the leadership of Martyr Hassan Nasrallah inflicted another defeat on the Israeli military, establishing what it described as a new “balance of deterrence” that constrained Israel for nearly two decades.

It said that recent regional developments, particularly the Palestinian resistance operation known as “Al-Aqsa Storm,” demonstrated that Israel is not invulnerable. The group claimed that Palestinian fighters were able to penetrate Israeli settlements and capture prisoners, briefly altering realities on the ground.

The association added that in the aftermath of those events, the United States and its allies rushed to support Israel, while Lebanon’s Islamic resistance front opened a support front along the northern border with occupied Palestine.

Assassinations and Ongoing Confrontation

The statement criticized Israel, with direct US backing, of assassinating senior resistance leaders during the confrontation, including Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine. It noted, however, that despite heavy blows, resistance forces remain capable of regaining the initiative.

According to the association, the resistance is currently pursuing a strategy of patience in preparation for a “decisive battle” that could ultimately determine the future of the conflict. It warned that continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 would accelerate tensions.

Condemnation of Recent Strikes

The group also condemned what it described as Israeli drone strikes that killed a young Lebanese civilian, Mohammad Hussein Qashqash, during an attack targeting a vehicle transporting students in the town of Hanine.

It further denounced an Israeli strike on a vehicle near the Masnaa crossing that reportedly killed four people, calling on the Lebanese government to adopt a firm stance to prevent further violations.

Developments in Palestine and Syria

The association condemned Israeli demolition orders against homes in the town of Tuqu’, near Bethlehem, as well as airstrikes in northern and southern Gaza that reportedly killed and wounded several Palestinians. It called on guarantor states of the Gaza agreement to pressure Israel to halt what it termed repeated breaches.

In addition, the statement described Israeli military incursions into the Syrian village of al-Mushayrifah in the Quneitra countryside, accompanied by surveillance drone flights, as a violation of Syrian sovereignty. It urged local authorities and popular forces to take necessary measures to prevent further incursions and safeguard civilians.

Concluding its remarks, the Muslim Scholars Association asserted that resistance remains present “with strength and dignity” and is prepared for future developments, emphasizing that regional tensions remain high amid ongoing hostilities.
