Hawzah News Agency- In a recent reflection on death and the spiritual journey of mankind, Grand Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli emphasized that while human beings possess a physical homeland in this world, their true and eternal homeland lies in meeting with God.
Quoting the words of Imam Hussein (PBUH), the revered scholar explained: “People have an earthly homeland, but the real homeland—the homeland of the soul—is the meeting with Allah.”
In his essay, Ayatollah Javadi Amoli elaborated on this profound concept, stating that life in this world is but a temporary station—a guesthouse, not a permanent residence. “Every person must eventually return to the place from which they came. Since God Almighty has said, ‘I breathed into him of My Spirit’, the human soul, being attributed to the Most Holy Divine Essence, originates from God. Therefore, its ultimate destination—its true homeland—is the meeting with Him.”
He further referenced Imam Hussein’s luminous sermons delivered in Mecca, where the Master of Martyrs declared: “Whoever wanders with us, their joy is in returning to their refuge—the meeting with Allah.” According to Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, this spiritual journey is the essence of Karbala—a call to recognize the divine origin of the soul and to ignite within oneself a longing to return to God.
“The movement of Sayyed al-Shuhada,” he said, “is one of awakening—guiding every traveler toward their destination and reminding each soul of its true homeland. This homeland, familiar to all who reflect, is none other than the meeting with Allah.”
