Hujjat al-Islam Ali Kurani, a renowned seminary scholar and researcher passed away at dawn today.

Hawzah News Agency- Shia cleric Hujjat al-Islam Ali Kurani, a researcher and scholar of Islamic history and the founder and director of the center "Research on Al-Mu'jam al-Fiqhi" passed away on Sunday, May 19, in Qom.

Professor Ali Kurani was born on November 22, 1944, in a religious family in Yatar village, one of the provinces of Tire Province, Lebanon.

He was the brother of Sheikh Hossein Kurani, the founder and late member of the leadership council of Hezbollah in Qom and he was the son of Mohammad Qassim Kurani, who had a special relationship with Seyyed Abdul Hossein Sharfuddin.

With the encouragement of Ayatollah Seyyed Abdul Hossein Sharfuddin, Professor Kurani started seminary courses and completed the preparatory courses under the supervision of Ayatollah Sheikh Ibrahim Suleiman.

In 1958, he immigrated to Najaf Ashraf in Iraq to complete the preparatory and advanced courses in the presence of the scholars Mohammed Taqi Faqih, Seyed Alaa Bahrul Uloom, Sheikh Mohammad Taqi Iravani, Seyed Mohammad Baqer Hakim and Seyed Saeed Hakim; Then, he attended the jurisprudence course of Ayatollah Khoei and Martyr Seyyed Mohammad Baqer Sadr.

He was the representative of Ayatollah Seyyed Mohsen Hakim in the city of Al-Khalis in Diyala province and, then in 1967 he served in Kuwait as the representative of Grand Ayatollah Abul Qasim Khoei.

He returned to Lebanon in 1974 and started researching and writing. At the same time, he had a significant presence in social activities such as the Construction of mosques and hospitals.

Following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, he attended Qom Seminary to continue writing and teaching, and with the support of Grand Ayatollah Golpayegani (RA) he established the Al-Ma'jam Fiqhi Center; with the support of Grand Ayatollah Sistani, he founded the Al-Mustafa Center for Religious Studies.
