The meeting to discuss the challenges of religious sciences in the East and the West was held by the efforts of Islamic Studies Group in Arabic at Al-Mustafa Institute of Short-Term Education and Study Opportunities.

Hawzah News Agency- the Islamic studies group in Arabic held a meeting to examine the challenges of religious sciences in the East and the West at Al-Mustafa Institute of Short-Term Education and Study Opportunities on Friday, November 11 in Qom.

Dr. Jafar Abbas, a professor at Kuwait University, presented the theory of religious science in this meeting and stated that religious texts are practical and not a mental, argumentative or imaginary issue, he further noted,” Our problem is that when we read the holy Quran, it is a mental reading. It is not existential or emotional, to have an influence inside us.”

Pointing to many behaviors such as obsession, despair, depression, madness, and suicide that happen in life, the professor of Kuwait University said,” All these problems are due to the dominance of mental concepts over existential concepts.”

“The experiences of the great prophet Muhammad (PBUH) were existential experiences that he expressed and passed on to others.” He reminded.

Dr. Sayyedi, the head of the Islamic Humanities Desk of the Islamic Propaganda Office, also presented an article on the challenges of religious sciences in the East and the West and added,” Western civilization, due to its domination of the world and through technology and science, tries to solve the problems and events of other cultures including the Islamic world.”

He pointed to the duality between traditional and modern culture, which has caused the issue of secular and religious science which makes the literature of secular and religious science stand out in the Islamic world.
