Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, said in a video statement shared via Telegram that recent developments in southern Lebanon reflect continued escalation following confrontations in the area of Ali al-Tahir.
He explained that resistance fighters there confronted an Israeli force, inflicting heavy losses and preventing it from advancing or taking control of the area.
Fadlallah said the enemy is attempting to compensate for its failure to achieve its declared objectives, including controlling southern Lebanon, destroying the resistance, and eliminating its presence, through increased attacks on civilians in recent hours.
He added that the Israeli occupation army sought to expand its control over Lebanese territory, stressing that the Resistance exercised its legitimate right to self-defense. "The resistance has the full right to confront this enemy when it attacks us, as it is the aggressor and the occupier".
Speaking at a commemorative event for Martyr Dr. Ossama Adib, held by Hezbollah in Beirut’s Jnah area, Fadlallah said that the Israeli occupation has not adhered to the ceasefire and is responsible for violating it. He emphasized that the only option is to "stand firm, resist, and prevent the enemy from remaining on our land"
Fadlallah stressed that what matters is a full and comprehensive Israeli commitment to a ceasefire, including an end to attacks on Lebanese villages and any attempts to seize additional territory.
He said the ceasefire framework includes a 60-day negotiation period and provisions related to Lebanon, which involve joint understandings between Iran and the United States. However, he stressed that the Iranian side would not move forward with any final agreement if an Israeli withdrawal is not implemented.
The MP also said the enemy is attempting to undermine the Iran–US memorandum of understanding, claiming it failed to meet its ambitions and disrupted its objectives.
Concerning Lebanon, Fadlallah praised Iran’s position, saying it remained committed and consistent in supporting Lebanon and acknowledged that Tehran suspended negotiations in line with its stance, describing it as a "historic and principled decision".
“Iran has fulfilled its commitment and remained sincere and consistent in its position with us, our country, and our people, making a ceasefire, ending the war, and the withdrawal of the enemy the top priority, through a clear commitment from the United States to preserve Lebanon’s unity and territorial integrity.” He said the memorandum received broad international support, except for "Israel," which emerged as the loser.
Iran has made it clear that the US must implement its commitments and ensure Israeli compliance; he said, otherwise, negotiations will not continue.
Fadlallah also criticized domestic political authorities, accusing them of making wrong decisions and offering concessions to the enemy, urging them to reconsider their approach and warning against the "misinterpretation of regional and international shifts".
Fadlallah reaffirmed confidence in Iran’s support for Lebanon, stressing that there is no concern regarding its commitments. He warned that during the 60 days, the enemy will attempt to evade and escalate attacks, but resistance forces will continue to respond on the ground.
He stressed that no political concessions would be allowed to grant the enemy what it failed to achieve militarily, emphasizing resistance and national unity as the only alternative.
"While expressing full readiness to cooperate and extend a helping hand to save our country, we warn against making any concessions or commitments to the enemy in direct negotiations, which we reject. There are attempts to obstruct a major achievement that could be realized in the country’s interest through US-Iranian negotiations, and the authorities should neither persist in denial nor refuse to acknowledge reality".
