'She turned Qom into a city of saints': Cleric highlights Lady Masuma's enduring legacy amid modern martyrs

A senior Iranian cleric has drawn a powerful parallel between the historical oppression of divine figures and the ongoing martyrdom of innocent children in the Ramadan war, stating that the sanctity of Qom is a direct result of the blessed presence of Lady Fatima Masuma (SA).

Hawzah News Agency- in a heartfelt address at the holy shrine of Lady Fatima Masuma (SA), the "Noble Lady of the Ahl al-Bayt," senior cleric Hojatoleslam Nasser Rafiei has highlighted the profound spiritual transformation of the city of Qom, linking the sacred history of the Infallibles to the contemporary sacrifices of the Iranian people.

Speaking during a gathering at the revered mausoleum, Rafiei noted that the city of Qom is home to over 400 descendants of the Holy Prophet (Imamzadehs), a concentration unmatched even in neighboring Iraq.

"One of the main reasons for the presence of this many Imamzadehs is the celestial shrine of Lady Fatima Masuma (SA)," the cleric stated.

A legacy of oppression and resistance

Drawing a thread from history to the present day, Rafiei reminded the audience of the Quranic condemnation of those who buried infant daughters alive 14 centuries ago, asking: "For which sin were they killed?"

He then pivoted to the current aggression against Iran. "In this imposed war, we have witnessed the martyrdom of babies just months old, as well as schoolchildren—all martyred in the peak of innocence and oppression," he said, his voice resonating through the shrine.

The cleric also recalled the historical atrocities committed by the Zionist entity. "The Jewish tribe martyred 70 prophets in a single day," Rafiei noted. "Since the establishment of this malignant regime over 70 years ago, they have assassinated countless figures outside the battlefield—in their own homes."

He prayed for the downfall of the oppressors. "We ask God to soon inflict upon these Zionists the fate of Pharaoh and Nimrod."

The noble lady's eternal bond

Marking the auspicious birth anniversary of Lady Fatima Masuma (SA), Rafiei detailed her short but blessed life of 28 years. Orphaned at 10 after the martyrdom of her father, Imam Musa al-Kadhim (AS), she spent 18 years under the care of her brother, Imam Reza (AS).

Although she had other brothers, her profound spiritual bond was with Imam Reza (AS), prompting her historic journey to Iran to reunite with him.

Although she was martyred two years before her brother—and thus Imam Reza (AS) could not physically visit her grave—the Imam left a powerful decree for all believers:

"Whoever visits Lady Masuma (SA) has indeed visited me, and Paradise becomes incumbent upon them," Rafiei quoted.

Why Lady Masuma stands apart

The cleric explained that among the hundreds of Imamzadehs buried in Qom, Lady Masuma (SA) holds a distinct status based on at least ten unique characteristics.

These include a special visitation prayer dictated directly by Imam Reza (AS), the absolute certainty of her burial location, and the countless miraculous graces attributed to her by the many grand sources of emulation and scholars buried in her vicinity.

"Hundreds of scholars have lived and been buried beside Lady Masuma (SA)," Rafiei concluded. "And from her, countless miracles have been narrated by these very authorities."
