Ayatollah Araki: Avenging Iran's Martyred Leader Is a Divine Duty, Not Personal Revenge

Qom Seminary scholar and member of Iran's Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Mohsen Araki has criticized those who reduce the issue of retribution against enemies to a simple, personal matter, stressing that avenging the blood of the Martyred Leader is retribution against the enemies of God.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at the Arbaeen burial ceremony for the purified body of Iran's martyred leader, held at the Beit al-Muqaddas Prayer Ground in Arak, Ayatollah Araki highlighted the philosophy behind Arbaeen commemorations, stating: "Holding the Arbaeen ceremony of Imam Hussein (AS) or the Arbaeen burial of our Martyred Imam Khamenei essentially signifies renewing allegiance to the path of truth and fulfilling the divine covenant."

The member of the Supreme Council of Islamic Seminaries added: "This is why religious texts identify the Arbaeen pilgrimage as one of the signs of a true believer."

He described the ceremony as an act of fulfilling the covenant of steadfastness and loyalty with the Martyred Imam, stating: "Let everyone know that the meaning of avenging the blood of the Leader of Martyrs is not merely to heal our own hearts. Rather, this retribution serves the benefit of humanity and justice, and realizes resistance against the oppressors of history to prevent the humiliation and degradation of the front of truth."

Ayatollah Araki continued: "One of the dangers threatening this revolution is that when the enemy cannot erase the name of the Imams of the Revolution, it attempts to distort the core objectives of the revolution."

He further noted: "Resistance does not mean standing against personal enemies; it means standing against the enemies of God. Therefore, when we speak of retribution, we are in fact declaring that human society must be liberated from the agents of oppression and tyranny — the cancerous tumors — so that humanity can taste the meaning of true freedom."

The Assembly of Experts member added: "Just as the enmity of the Infallible Imams (AS) toward figures such as Muawiyah and Yazid was not a personal dispute, we likewise have no personal quarrel with our enemies. We consider them enemies because they are enemies of all human society."

Quoting the holy Quranic verse "Do not weaken and do not call for peace while you are superior," Ayatollah Araki said: "Unfortunately, these days some people, due to ignorance of the foundations of Islam, speak of peace with the enemy, while peace with the enemies of humanity is meaningless."

He added: "Therefore, war and jihad against those who, like predatory beasts, threaten humanity is not only not blameworthy — it is sacred."

Ayatollah Araki stated: "Today's war against the enemies is the elimination of microbes from human society, and the work of fighters in battle against enemies is like the work of physicians in preventing or combating diseases."

The Qom seminary scholar concluded: "Today, we pledge with all the Infallible Imams (AS), with the martyrs, and with our Martyred Leader that we will avenge their blood."
