Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Syed Safi Haider, Secretary-General of Tanzeem-ul-Makatib in India, expressed deep concern over what he characterized as escalating hostile rhetoric emanating from Washington. He stressed that the justice-seeking people of India would never allow global peace and justice to become casualties of coercion and intimidation.
Condemnation of Alleged Threats
Referring to recent developments, Haider described reported threats against Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei as a “clear violation of international norms and diplomatic conventions.”
“Any threat of abduction or harm against a national or religious leader is not only unlawful under international frameworks but also carries dangerous implications for global stability,” he stated.
He emphasized that the position of Iran’s Leader extends beyond national borders, noting that millions of Shia Muslims worldwide regard him as a spiritual authority. “Any hostile action or conspiracy targeting him would not be tolerated by peace-loving communities,” Haider warned.
Call for Lawful and Democratic Response
The Indian cleric underscored that any response to aggression must remain within legal and democratic frameworks. He warned that silence in the face of threats against religious or national figures would be unacceptable.
“This matter transcends sectarian or ideological boundaries,” he said. “It concerns human dignity, global justice, and the preservation of peace.”
Urging India to Counter Media Disinformation
Haider also called on the Government of India to take firm and lawful action against waves of misinformation and propaganda targeting religious personalities.
He criticized certain media outlets for circulating unverified reports in pursuit of higher viewership, arguing that such practices undermine social cohesion and public trust.
“Responsible journalism is essential for maintaining harmony in a pluralistic society like India,” he said, warning that sensationalism could inflame tensions and erode national unity.
Launch of Nationwide Peace Campaign
Announcing a broad-based signature campaign under the banner of the “Peace and Justice Movement,” Haider said the initiative seeks to unite scholars, clerics, intellectuals, social leaders, and citizens from diverse religious backgrounds in support of a shared discourse centered on peace, justice, and mutual respect.
The campaign aims to build a comprehensive narrative advocating global peace while opposing policies rooted in threats and coercion.
Interfaith Conference Planned After Ramadan
The Secretary-General further revealed plans to organize an interfaith conference following the holy month of Ramadan. Religious leaders from various faith traditions are expected to gather to deliver a unified message emphasizing peace, justice, human rights, and opposition to pressure-based foreign policies.
The conference, he said, will serve as a platform to promote interreligious solidarity and collective resistance to destabilizing rhetoric.
Commitment to Peaceful Coexistence
Concluding his remarks, Haider clarified that the movement is not directed against any nation or people.
“Our objective is not hostility,” he stated. “It is the expansion of justice, the protection of national sovereignty, and the strengthening of mutual respect among nations.”
He added that India has historically stood as a standard-bearer of peaceful coexistence and pluralism, and that this legacy must be preserved and strengthened in the face of growing global tensions.
