Appointment of Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri as Pakistan Senate Opposition Leader ‘An Honor for Shia Community’

A senior Pakistani cleric has welcomed the appointment of Senator Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri as leader of the opposition in Pakistan’s Senate, describing the development as a source of pride for the country’s Shia community and a positive step toward greater political inclusion.

Hawzah News Agency- In a statement, Hojatoleslam Sheikh Muhammad Hassan Jafri, the Friday prayer leader of Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan, extended his heartfelt congratulations on the senator’s election to the key parliamentary post.

“The appointment of Senator Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri as opposition leader in the Senate is an honor for the Shia community of Pakistan and a blessed development,” Sheikh Jafri said, noting that the move reflects growing recognition of the political insight, perseverance, and contributions of Shia citizens within the national political landscape.

He emphasized that the appointment goes beyond symbolic representation, expressing hope that Senator Jafri will serve as a strong and principled voice for oppressed and marginalized segments of society within the upper house of parliament.

“This development is a clear indication that the political vision and sustained efforts of the Shia community are being acknowledged at the highest levels,” the cleric said. “We are confident that Senator Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri will fulfill his religious, political, and public responsibilities with integrity and resolve.”
