Qom Hosts International Panel on Confronting Western Colonialism Through Imam Khamenei’s Thought

The International Specialized Committee of the conference “We and the West in the Thoughts of Ayatollah Khamenei” convened at the Imam Khomeini Higher Education Complex in Qom, bringing together a group of researchers and experts from across the world.

Hawzah News Agency- The event focused on an in-depth review of the intellectual, political, and cultural impact of Western colonialism and hegemonic policies, examined through the framework of the ideas of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. Participants stressed the necessity of revisiting Ayatollah Khamenei’s perspective on the West, particularly its cultural penetration in Muslim societies, and discussed strategies to counter Western intellectual and political dominance.

Held as part of a series of scientific meetings leading up to the international conference, the gathering aimed to clarify the role of the Iranian Leader’s thought in confronting the challenges posed by Western civilization and to outline a systematic vision for advancing a new Islamic civilization.

Seminary’s Global Mission Highlighted

Addressing the meeting, Hojatoleslam Sayyed Mofid Hosseini Kouhsari, Head of International Affairs of Iranian Seminaries, emphasized the need for seminaries to reassess their intellectual and revolutionary responsibilities on the global stage. He recalled the Leader’s guidelines in the seminary charter, noting that the institution must undertake intellectual, religious, and civilizational leadership internationally. Among the five core principles in the charter, he said, pioneering the struggle against colonialism and global arrogance remains fundamental.

International Researchers Present Scientific Articles

A number of scholars from different countries presented their papers, each exploring an aspect of Ayatollah Khamenei’s thought in relation to Western challenges.

In a paper entitled “Liberation from Cultural Colonialism in the Light of Quranic Principles,” Mirzamuddin Gadviyev from Tajikistan examined Qur’anic strategies for resisting Western soft power and highlighted a return to faith-based identity as the cornerstone of cultural independence in Islamic societies.

Drisa Diamotone of Mali delivered an Arabic-language presentation titled “American Conspiracies and the Islamic Revolution’s Resistance Model.” He argued that the Islamic Revolution has demonstrated that unity under divine leadership provides the most effective response to Western colonial and divisive agendas.
