Hawzah News Agency- Israel is preparing to call up tens of thousands of reserve soldiers for its Gaza City offensive, but military officials say it’s not clear how many of them will return to the fight after nearly two years of grinding war.
One soldier reported that attendance in his unit, which consists of 100 people, has gradually declined to 60 percent. Another soldier in the infantry unit said that only half of his group showed up for the last service period at the end of last year. A reserve commander also emphasized that some officers are facing a crisis, with troop attendance in their units dropping to 40 percent.
Over the past few months, an increasing number of Israeli reserve soldiers have not been showing up for military service.
The Israeli military did not provide hard numbers on how many reservists have dropped out, making it difficult to assess the scale of the phenomenon.
