Hawzah News Agency- In his message, Ayatollah Arafi characterized the actions in Gaza as “one of the most heinous crimes in contemporary history,” blaming Israel of seeking to eradicate the Palestinian people and their identity with the backing of “arrogant powers.” He called the developments a “clear violation” of international law, the UN Charter, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and multiple UN resolutions, as well as an example of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
Quoting the Holy Qur’an, the cleric stressed that defending occupied territories and supporting Palestinians is a “religious and moral obligation” for Muslims and all “free people of the world.”
Ayatollah Arafi’s statement urged the global community to:
- Condemn the occupation of Gaza and declare it invalid.
- Use legal, political, economic, and “legitimate deterrent” measures to halt the aggression.
- Ensure the immediate and unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
- Pursue the prosecution of Israeli leaders as war criminals.
He reaffirmed the seminaries’ solidarity with Palestinians and said resistance would continue “until the full liberation of Palestine, Al-Quds Al-Sharif, and all Islamic and Christian holy sites.”
