Imam Hussain Holy Shrine employs AI and Cybersecurity in comprehensive surveillance plan for Ashura

The Security Department of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the deployment of over 2,000 surveillance cameras equipped with cutting-edge technology, as part of a comprehensive security strategy to secure the Muharram rituals in the holy city of Karbala.

Hawzah News Agency- Engineer Rasool Fidhala, Head of the Security Department, stated, “We have established a joint operations room in coordination with various departments and personnel of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, and in cooperation with the relevant security authorities, to ensure the safety of pilgrims and visitors during the Muharram rituals''.

He added that the surveillance system includes more than 2,000 cameras installed at all major entry and exit points of the Old City. These cameras are powered by advanced artificial intelligence for facial recognition and real-time data analysis.

Fidhala also noted that a dedicated cybersecurity team has been assigned to protect the Shrine’s technical infrastructure against hacking attempts and cyber threats.

These measures are part of a wide-ranging set of preparations undertaken by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to ensure the highest level of safety and security for pilgrims during the sacred Ashura rituals.
