Senior Cleric receives Iranian Ambassador to Iraq

Highlighting the importance of developing religious tourism between Iran and Iraq, Grand Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi urged both countries to improve the quality of services offered to the pilgrims of Shia Holy shrines.

Hawzah News Agency (Najaf, Iraq) - As his term in office as the Iranian ambassador to Iraq is coming to an end, Hassan Danaeifar met with Grand Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi, a senior Shia cleric in the holy city of Najaf on Monday, April 3.

 

 During the meeting, the Iranian official congratulated the Shia cleric on the advent of holy month of Rajab as well as the recent victories of Iraqi popular mobilization forces in the battle against ISIS terrorists. Danaeifar further reiterated that such victories are the result of Shia sources of emulation's fatwas.

 

Grand Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi also highlighted the importance of developing ties among Muslim countries and urged Islamic nations to further strengthen their religious cooperation.

 

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iraqi cleric asked Islamic countries to enhance their economic and scientific ties.

 

Addressing the issue of religious tourism in Iraq and Iran, the Shia source of emulation emphasized improving the quality of services offered to pilgrims in the Iraqi holy shrines.
