From Hormuz to American Shelves!

In a sharp escalation of tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has begun charging transit fees for ships passing through what it asserts are its territorial waters—drawing fierce U.S. criticism and a counter-threat from President Donald Trump to impose a $20-per-cargo levy of his own. Senator Andy Kim has warned that the move would spike U.S. consumer prices and fuel costs, calling any military confrontation with Iran a "costly mistake" with lasting political and economic consequences.

Hawzah News Agency- Since the beginning of the American aggression against Iran and Iran's use of the Strait of Hormuz as a leverage point, American politicians and Western statesmen aligned with the U.S. have consistently accused Iran of illegally exploiting an international waterway.

These statements come despite the fact that, under international law, the entire Strait of Hormuz is part of Iran's territorial waters.

Now, after years of providing security free of charge, Iran has decided to charge fees for security and services provided to ships in this waterway.

This move has faced widespread criticism, until a businessman named Donald Trump—who also happens to be the President of the United States—declared:

"The U.S. intends to collect $20 for every cargo shipment passing through the Strait of Hormuz''.

Trump's claim has shocked many economic circles.

In response, Senator Andy Kim warned that implementing such a plan would directly increase the prices of consumer goods, fuel, and agricultural inputs in the United States.

Finally, he described a confrontation with Iran as a costly mistake, saying that its consequences would haunt America's political, social, and economic situation for years to come.
