Funeral of Martyred Leader Ayatollah Khamenei draws world dignitaries to Tehran: Anadolu

Turkey's Anadolu news agency has covered the official funeral and commemoration ceremony of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, reporting that high-ranking delegations from around 100 countries attended the event in Tehran.

Hawzah News Agency- The official funeral and memorial service for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution was held at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Grounds, with senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, political and religious figures, and foreign delegations in attendance, Anadolu reported.

According to the report, the ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and a tribute to the body of the late Leader, with commemorative programs continuing throughout the day.

Anadolu further noted that delegations from roughly 100 nations, including heads of state and parliament, foreign ministers, and special government envoys, took part in the proceedings.

Citing Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami, the Turkish news agency quoted him as saying on the sidelines of the event: "This martyrdom has undoubtedly strengthened our resolve. The enemies of the Iranian nation, namely the United States and Israel, must know that we will avenge the blood of our martyred Imam and all martyrs."

Anadolu also recalled that Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was martyred in an assault launched by the United States and the Zionist regime on February 28, 2026, and following roughly a week of ceremonies, his body is scheduled to be laid to rest in the holy city of Mashhad on July 9, 2026.

The report added that a Turkish delegation headed by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz attended the ceremony. He was accompanied by Kayhan Türkmenoğlu, head of the Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group; Hasan Turan, a member of the Turkish Parliament's presiding board; Musa Kulaklıkaya, Turkey's deputy foreign minister; and Hicabi Kırlangıç, Ankara's ambassador to Tehran.
