Islamic world must react seriously to insults against Islamic sanctities: Islamic Propagation chief

The head of the Islamic Propagation Office in Kashan has underscored the necessity for a serious response from the Islamic world to insults leveled against Islamic sanctities, warning that indifference toward violations of Muslim sacred values paves the way for the normalization of such conduct in the global political and media landscape.

Speaking to a correspondent for Hawzah News Agency in Kashan, Hojatoleslam Mehdi Basirati offered condolences on the occasion of the holy month of Muharram and stated that the Holy Kaaba belongs to all Muslims across the world, and any insult directed at it wounds the sentiments and beliefs of the entire Islamic Ummah. He stressed that defending the sanctity of Islamic holy sites constitutes a shared responsibility for all Muslim nations and governments.

He went on to note that recent days have witnessed public reactions in several Islamic countries to these offensive remarks, demonstrating that sensitivity toward sacred values remains a unifying element for the Muslim Ummah. This significant capacity, he said, must be harnessed in the direction of strengthening solidarity among Muslims.

Hojatoleslam Basirati stated that the enemies of the Islamic world have persistently sought to exploit rifts and differences to weaken the Muslim Ummah, adding that today, more than ever, there is a pressing need to reinforce Islamic unity and focus on common ground. Islamic sanctities, he noted, rank among the most important points of convergence for Muslims, and defending them can serve to foster greater cohesion within the Ummah.

He called on religious, cultural, and social institutions across various Islamic countries to actively step forward in clarifying the dimensions of this issue and not to allow assaults on Islamic sanctities to go unanswered.

The head of the Kashan Islamic Propagation Office further emphasized that Muslim nations have demonstrated throughout history that they remain highly sensitive to any infringement upon their religious beliefs and values, and that wherever unity and solidarity have taken root, the enemies of Islam have failed to achieve their objectives.

In conclusion, Hojatoleslam Basirati stressed that defending the Kaaba and Islamic sanctities is tantamount to safeguarding the identity, dignity, and unity of the Muslim Ummah, and that all Muslims must feel a sense of responsibility in this regard.
