Yedioth Ahronoth: US-Iran Agreement Simultaneously Strengthens Iran and Hezbollah

An Israeli analyst has described the agreement signed with Iran to halt the war as a "strategic failure for the United States," warning that the deal "does nothing but bolster the positions of Iran and Hezbollah."

Hawzah News Agency- Writing in the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, analyst Ben-Dror Yemini argued that the agreement encompasses both Iran and Lebanon in a single breath, framing it as an end to the war. However, he stressed that this is an end which accomplishes nothing beyond strengthening Hezbollah's standing, just as it reinforces Iran's position.

Yemini noted that as the final, official formula of the agreement becomes increasingly clear, concerns continue to mount. He emphasized that these are no longer rumors, asserting that in certain aspects, the deal is even worse than the 14 points that had previously been leaked.

In this context, Yemini pointed out that the gap between the statements of US President Donald Trump and reality "has never appeared this vast." He described the gap as alarming, raising fears that something may be fundamentally flawed in the assessments of Trump and two of his closest and most loyal associates, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

He stressed that the agreement's provisions demonstrate that "Iran is the greatest winner."

While Trump had previously declared one of the war's objectives to be the destruction of Iran's ballistic missile stockpiles and production capability, he made a complete reversal yesterday, stating there is no issue with Iran continuing to develop ballistic missiles, as other countries also possess such weaponry.

Yemini asked, "Tens of millions are listening and cannot believe it... Is this the president of the world's leading power? Has he lost his mind?"

The remarks come following the finalization of an understanding to halt the regional war between Iran and the United States; an agreement that has entered into force with the digital signatures of both sides. Israeli assessments, meanwhile, view the deal as constituting "a catastrophe and a strategic failure for Israel."

According to the analysis, the agreement comprises 14 points, the most significant of which include a cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, and the commencement of a negotiation process aimed at reaching a final agreement within 60 days.
