Indian Shia Scholars Issue Joint Statement in Support of Iran’s Leader, Condemn US Threats

A group of 58 prominent Shia scholars from India have issued a joint statement voicing their firm support for Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, denouncing recent hostile rhetoric and threats by the United States as reckless and dangerous.

Hawzah News Agency- In the statement, released amid rising regional tensions, the scholars described Ayatollah Khamenei as “a source of dignity, pride, and hope for the world’s oppressed,” stressing that his leadership transcends national boundaries and resonates across the Muslim world and among freedom-seekers globally.

The Indian scholars sharply criticized Washington’s escalating interventionist policies, saying that the United States, under President Donald Trump, has increasingly resorted to open threats against independent nations, in blatant disregard for international law, human rights, and basic humanitarian principles. They noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been placed at the center of these pressures due to its resistance to domination and its insistence on political independence.

Referring to reports of threats against the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the signatories warned that such statements are not merely an affront to a political figure, but a direct provocation against a major religious authority revered by millions of Muslims worldwide. They cautioned that any aggression or threat targeting a senior religious leader could have grave and far-reaching consequences for global stability.

The scholars further condemned the United States for its unwavering support for the Israeli regime, holding Washington responsible for a significant share of insecurity in West Asia, particularly through its complicity in crimes committed against the Palestinian people. They also criticized certain Western allies and regional governments for their covert or overt collaboration in these policies.

Highlighting Iran’s decades-long struggle for sovereignty, the statement noted that the Iranian nation has paid a heavy price for its independence, including economic sanctions, external pressure, and acts of sabotage attributed to US- and Israeli-linked elements aimed at destabilizing the country from within. Despite these challenges, the scholars said, Iran has remained resilient, standing firm against hegemonic powers under what they described as “wise, courageous, and farsighted leadership.”

The signatories emphasized that Ayatollah Khamenei’s leadership represents a major blessing for the Muslim ummah and the wider region. They described him as the leader of millions of Muslims and free people, and as a powerful voice for the oppressed and marginalized. According to the statement, a fair reading of his speeches and positions demonstrates that he is not merely the leader of a single nation, but a seasoned spiritual and political guide who has consistently challenged arrogance, injustice, and domination.

In the concluding section, the Indian scholars urged the United States and its allies to abandon their interventionist policies, cease efforts to impose regime change on sovereign nations, and be held accountable for the consequences of their actions. They reaffirmed their full support for the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, condemned all plots by hegemonic powers, and expressed hope that divine justice will ultimately prevail over oppression and tyranny.
