Iranian Cleric Says Reported Killing of ‘Abu Shabab’ Sends Shockwaves Through Pro-Israel Circles

Bijar, Iran — A senior cleric in Kurdistan Province says the reported killing of a figure known as “Abu Shabab” has drawn significant reaction across the region, describing it as a development that has unsettled parties aligned against Palestinian resistance groups.

Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Seyyed Musa Mahmoudi, director of the Hedayat School in Bijar, told Hawzah News Agency that reports circulating in regional media indicate that an individual identified as Abu Shabab—described by some outlets as affiliated with militant groups hostile to Hamas—was recently killed in what has been characterized as a targeted operation.

According to Mahmoudi, Abu Shabab had long been accused by Palestinian factions of cooperating with foreign intelligence services and contributing to instability inside Gaza. He was alleged to have played a role in efforts to counter Hamas as well as other groups within the broader “resistance axis.”

“Various media sources have confirmed his death,” Mahmoudi said. “For years, he was regarded by local actors as a figure involved in armed activity, intelligence collaboration, and operations that fueled internal tension in Gaza.”

The cleric described the development as a turning point that, in his view, has generated concern among actors he described as “supporters of policies aligned with Tel Aviv.” He argued that such figures face consequences for actions seen as harmful to the population of Gaza.

Mahmoudi added that the situation should serve as a reminder to those he characterized as “local elements cooperating with outside powers,” urging them to reconsider any involvement that could contribute to further conflict in the region.

While reactions continue to emerge, no independent confirmation has yet been issued by international organizations regarding the circumstances of Abu Shabab’s reported death, and details surrounding the event remain limited.
