Safavid-Era Artwork Unveiled at Fatimid Museum in Qom

Qom– A valuable Safavid-era artwork inscribed with a Quranic verse on resistance was unveiled at the Museum of the Holy Shrine of Hazrat Fatima Masoumeh (PBUH) on the occasion of Sacred Defense Week.

Hawzah News Agency- The piece, dated 1112 AH, is a carved wooden panel bearing the verse “Indeed, those who said, ‘Our Lord is Allah,’ then they stood firm…” (Surah Fussilat, verse 30). The inscription is executed in golden thuluth calligraphy using the delicate technique of gold leaf carving on wood.

The work, described as a rare combination of Islamic art, spirituality, and resistance values, is currently displayed in the museum’s jewelry section alongside the Safavid Golden Quran.

Hojatoleslam Alireza Ahmadi Qarazagh, head of the museum, said during the unveiling ceremony: “Beyond its artistic and historical significance, this masterpiece carries an eternal message of resistance and perseverance. On the occasion of Sacred Defense Week in Iran, it reminds us of the deep connection between the culture of sacrifice and the spiritual heritage of our country.”

The official invited the public, especially enthusiasts of Islamic art and history, to visit the exhibition, noting that the work will remain on display until the end of Sacred Defense Week.
