Pakistani Shia Scholar: Following Pure Imams (AS) Brings Worldly and Eternal Happiness

On the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Rida (AS), Hujjat-ul-Islam Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, Chairman of the Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan, emphasized that following the path and teachings of the pure Imams (AS) is the key to attaining salvation and happiness both in this world and the hereafter.

Hawzah News Agency- In a statement, Naqvi described the lives of the infallible Imams as the best role models for guiding people toward the right path and an authentic Islamic way of life. He noted that historical and narrational sources refer to Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Rida (AS) by titles such as Reza, Sabir, Razi, Wafi, Zaki, Imam Rauf, Gharib al-Ghuraba, and Thamin al-Aimmah, with “Rida” being the most renowned. Citing Alam al-Wari by Fadl ibn Hassan Tabarsi, he recalled that Imam Musa al-Kazim (AS) referred to his son as “Alam al-Muhammad.”

Highlighting the difficult circumstances during Imam Reza’s Imamate, Naqvi said that after the martyrdom of his father, Imam Musa al-Kazim (AS), Imam Reza (AS) assumed leadership in a period of political instability and insecurity. Despite the hostility of the time, even the rulers were compelled to seek his advice due to his scholarly and spiritual authority. Imam Reza (AS) accepted certain governmental responsibilities to safeguard the interests of religion and the Muslim Ummah, dedicating himself to guiding the Islamic community and serving humanity.

Hojatoleslam Naqvi noted that Imam Reza (AS) engaged in numerous scholarly debates with intellectuals and opponents, demonstrating unmatched depth of knowledge and persuasive reasoning. His intellectual legacy not only guided his contemporaries but also produced valuable works in medicine and other fields that continue to benefit humanity.

“The words and teachings of Imam Reza (AS) are filled with wisdom,” Naqvi stated, “offering guidance in politics, governance, sociology, social reform, human development, health, and the affirmation of the superiority of true religion over falsehood. These remain an eternal beacon for seekers of truth.”

Concluding his message, Naqvi stressed: “By following the path and deeds of the pure Imams (AS), we can secure both worldly success and eternal salvation. Studying the life of Imam Reza (AS) and acting upon his example ensures our lives remain aligned with the authentic teachings of Islam.”

Historical sources vary on the date of Imam Reza’s martyrdom, with some citing the 17th of Safar.
