Hawzah News Agency- Dressed in black and organized into traditional mourning groups, participants moved solemnly through the streets surrounding the shrine, performing rituals of chain-beating and chest-beating as they approached the sacred site. The devout atmosphere reflected deep spiritual devotion and reverence for the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), especially the Lady of Dignity, Hazrat Masoumeh.
This year’s Muharram carries added emotional weight due to its concurrence with the funerals of Iranian martyrs from the recent 12-day war imposed by the Zionist regime. The people of Qom, inspired by their enduring love for Imam Hussein (AS) and the sacrifice of the martyrs, have taken part in mourning ceremonies with increased passion and unity.
Hossein Mahmoudi, Deputy for Cultural, Social, and Pilgrimage Affairs at the Qom Governorate, reported that more than 2,000 mourning delegations, mosques, tekyehs, and home-based gatherings are actively organizing ceremonies across the city during the holy month. He noted a marked rise in public engagement and social solidarity, underscoring the pivotal role of Qom in preserving the sacred traditions of Ashura.
