Holy Alawi Shrine Announces Program for 14th Int’l Ghadir Week

The Holy Alawi Shrine has officially unveiled the full program for the 14th edition of the International Ghadir Week, a major annual event commemorating the appointment of Imam Ali (PBUH) as the successor to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).

Hawzah News Agency- this year’s program is set to be the most expansive yet, encompassing both local and international participation. The week-long celebration is considered one of the most significant commemorative events organized inside and outside of Iraq.

The announcement was made during a press conference held in the Hazrat Zahra (PBUH) Courtyard of the Holy Shrine, chaired by Haider Rahim, Head of the Shrine’s Media Department. The event was attended by representatives of various satellite channels, media agencies, journalists, and digital content creators.

Haider Rahim stated:

“The 14th International Ghadir Week began with ceremonies at local, national, and international levels, marking this sacred occasion with over 40 distinct activities. These initiatives reflect the collective efforts of the shrine’s departments, in coordination with the Center for Planning and Development of Order, to present the message of Ghadir as a bridge between Islamic thought and our contemporary cultural and social realities.”

Flag-Raising Ceremonies Across the World

Among the most notable events of the week is the raising of the blessed Ghadir flag at the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), in cities across Iraq, and in numerous countries worldwide. Over 700 flags are scheduled to be hoisted in official and community ceremonies across all continents—including Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America, and Australia—spanning more than 40 countries.

In addition to the flag-raising ceremonies, extensive decorative efforts are being carried out in Najaf al-Ashraf and its surrounding areas, with over 35,000 meters of celebratory decorations adorning streets, neighborhoods, and public spaces.

Haider Rahim emphasized that this year’s Ghadir Week aims to reaffirm the identity of Imam Ali (PBUH) as a symbol of justice, knowledge, and universal human values. The programs seek to engage audiences from all backgrounds, offering a spiritually enriching experience that reflects the global importance of the Ghadir event.
