Hawzah News Agency- Following the months-long siege of Parachinar region, an important meeting was held in Islamabad with the presence of a group of scholars, political figures and journalists. The participants at the gathering expressed concern over the miserable situation of the people of Kurram region and called for an immediate end to the siege and the return of security and peace to the region.
At the beginning of the meeting, Hujjat al-Islam Syed Tajammal Hussain Fakhri, a member of the Husayniyya Association, considered the situation of the people of Parachinar to be the result of the government's irresponsibility and said,” Over the past months, the noble people of Parachinar have lived in unbearable conditions; the siege and insecurity have paralyzed their daily lives. Today, Parachinar, like Gaza, is under the oppression, and the country's security institutions are incapable and indifferent in carrying out their duties.”
Continuing the meeting, Mufti Gulzar Naeemi, head of Ahl al-Haram congregation, strongly criticized the government's indifference towards Parachinar crisis, stating,” The continuation of this crisis is a deep wound on the body of the Pakistani nation, and the government is obliged to respond.”
Hujjat al-Islam Syed Hassan Zafar Naqvi, member of the Supreme Council of the Muslim Unity Assembly, said, “The defenseless people of Kurram region have been under siege for seven months, and every day we hear news of the martyrdom of our children, women, and loved ones. We will resist until justice and complete freedom of the region are achieved.”
Nayyar Bukhari, former chairman of the Senate of Pakistan and a leader of the People's Party, emphasized in his speech,” Ensuring lasting peace is not possible without dialogue and real reconciliation between the tribes. Today, more than ever, we need unity.”
In this meeting, Hamid Hussain Touri, a member of parliament from the Muslim Unity Assembly, warned that if the government fails to fulfill its legal duties, the case will be referred to international institutions. The financial and human losses caused to the people of Kurram region require immediate accountability.
Ali Hadi, a member of the provincial assembly, also strongly criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, saying,” Ali Amin Gandapur’s wrong policies have deprived the people of Kurram region of peace and destroyed its infrastructure.”
