In the name of Allah, the Merciful
The passing of the distinguished jurist and great scholar, Ayatollah Sheikh Abbas Mahfouzi, a member of the Qom seminary community, caused deep sorrow and grief.
Ayatollah Mahfouzi, who gained knowledge in the presence of senior Shia scholars, was among Imam Khomeini's (RA) students and companions during the Islamic revolution, and was arrested and imprisoned many times due to his activities, and after the Islamic revolution, he was among the committed and faithful members of the Islamic system.
During the years of his life, he excelled in planning religious debates, promoting and publishing Islamic teachings and rituals of Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, training students and authoring numerous books; also, by taking appropriate actions in charity and public benefit affairs, he took serious care in dealing with the problems of the needy. His humanitarian actions will remain for them as righteous remnants.
While extending my condolences to the respected seminaries, the clergy, students, devotees and the bereaved families, I pray for that honorable scholar of the highest ranks, and for the survivors, patience and health from the Almighty Lord.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf
Speaker of the Islamic Council
