Hawzah News Agency- A professor of Qom Seminary Hojjat al-Islam Abedini said at the opening ceremony of the office of the Ashab al-Saheb congregation regarding Mubahlah Day,” Points about Mubahlah Day are mentioned in the Book of Al-Muraqabah and we should pay attention to these points.”
Hojjat al-Islam Abedini further pointed out the scope and significance of the day of Mubahlah, saying,” The day of Mubahlah was both the proof of the prophethood of Muhammad and the proof of the guardianship of Amir al-Momenin (PBUT). It was the honor of his descent against the Christians and the proof of prophethood; But at the same time, it is unique in proving the guardianship of Imam Ali (PBUH).
Hojjat al-Islam Abedini expressed the beauty of naming Mubahlah Day as a family day and the importance of this day for Islamic scholars and their readiness for Mubahlah with the opponents of Islam. Ghadir should not be lost, as it holds greatness.
Referring to the importance of the upcoming presidential elections in Iran, he said, "Today, as the truth we feel, we must be ready to work for our country. Surely, with such preparation, we will never have weakness from the inside and will not show weakness on the outside.”
Hujjat al-Islam Abedini added,” As believers in the Islamic system, we must be completely strong inside and create a feeling of strength inside and outside. This view requires that you look at governance as the basis for the emergence of Imam al-Asr, which will increase the pace and effect of the movement with this view.”
The event of Mubāhala is an event in Islamic history in which the Prophet and Christian delegations from Najran met to do mubahala attempting to reveal who was lying about their religious differences.
In the Qur'an, the term Mubadala is mentioned as a decisive solution to the dispute over Prophet Jesus, being one of the Trinity or not, between the Christians of Najran and Prophet Muhammad.
Prophet Muhammad suggested Christians of Najran do mubahala, and they accepted; however, on the day they had agreed upon earlier, they refused to do mubahala since they saw that the Prophet came with the closest members of his family, who were his daughter, Fatima al-Zahra (PBUH), his son-in-law, Imam Ali (PBUH), his grandsons, al-Hasan and al-Husayn (PBUT), and thus Christians understood his truthfulness. This way, the Prophet (PBUH) became victorious in this event.
The occasion of the Prophet's mubahala with Christians of Najran is not only a sign of the truth of the Prophet's claim [i.e., inviting them to Islam] but also shows the position of his family members since he introduced them alone among all his companions and relatives. Therefore, that event is among the merits of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT). The encounter of mubahala happened on Dhu al-Hijja 24, 9/April 3, 631.
