Ghadir

The word "Ghadir" is of several meanings in terminology, such as "pond", "a piece of water," and "rainwater".

Hawzah News Agency- Ghadir Khumm is located in the middle of the two great cities of the Muslim world, Mecca and Medina, in the place called "Ja'fah"; and at the time of the messenger of Islam (peace be upon him and his progeny), the Hajj caravans separated there and went toward their own country. There are several possibilities on why this place is named Ghadir Khum; for example, one reason can be due to its weather conditions.

Having been ordered by Almighty Allah, the Prophet of Islam peace be upon him and his progeny appointed Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH) as a leader and successor in Ghadir Khumm.
