Hawzah News Agency – Addressing the conference on religions dialogue with participation of Lebanese religious scholars in Beirut, Esmaeili said: “In the Islamic Republic of Iran, we are witnessing peaceful coexistence between followers of religions, and our progressive constitution recognizes freedom of action and religious for followers of divine religions.
Citizens of other religions have representatives in parliament and other government positions like Muslims, he noted.
Referring to the concept of "citizen" in Iranian law, he said: "Every citizen, regardless of religious and political affiliation, has rights that the Islamic system considers itself obliged to observe."
There are continuous dialogues between thinkers of religions and sects annually in Iran, and every year we host a group of thinkers of different religions.
There are several universities and higher education centers in Iran to study of religions, and we follow the same method in regional relations.
He invited scholars of Lebanese religions and sects to travel to Iran to get acquainted with Iran’s cultural policies.
