Head of Iran Islamic Seminary statement on Pope and Ayatollah Sistani meeting

The Seminary of Iran hopes that this blessed meeting and the continuation of these interactions will lead to the expansion of human fraternity and peaceful coexistence of the followers of the divine religions and all humanity.

Hawzah News Agency- In a statement, the Management Center of Iran Seminaries considered the meeting of Ayatollah Sistani and Pope Francis as two religious leaders and scholars as a wise and praiseworthy action:

“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Religious leaders have always played an important role in promoting spirituality, morality, peace, and friendship in human societies. They are constantly the key to overcome tensions and ethnic or religious divisions, and the messengers of peace, friendship, and unity through their wise behaviors. His Holiness Pope Francis' recent visit to the friend and brother country of Iraq can be evaluated in this regard. Also, the recent meeting of Grand Ayatollah Sistani and Pope Francis as two religious leaders and scholars is a wise and praiseworthy action.

This meeting, which took place with ultimate sincerity and kindness, can be an inspiration and a model for future efforts to bring the heavenly religions closer together. Improvement of the relations between Muslims and Christians as followers of the two great divine religions, condemnation and marginalization of invalid ideas such as Islamophobia, Shiaphobia, and Takfiri-terrorist ideology can be considered as the most significant effects of this important meeting.

The Seminary of Iran has always been committed to supporting the common goals and values of the divine religions and hopes that this blessed meeting and the continuation of these interactions will lead to the expansion of human fraternity and peaceful coexistence of the followers of the divine religions and all humanity.
