Lebanon: Judicial investigator into Beirut port blast issues arrest warrants against two employees

The director of Beirut port’s manifest department Neameh Al-Brax and the employee at the port Johny Jerjes were arrested in accordance with the two warrants.

Hawzah News Agency - (Beirut - Lebanon) - The judicial investigator into Beirut port blast, Fadi Sawwan, issued arrest warrants against two employees after completing interrogations at Beirut Justice Palace.

The director of Beirut port’s manifest department Neameh Al-Brax and the employee at the port Johny Jerjes were arrested in accordance with the two warrants.

Sawwan earlier had issued two arrest warrants against the port’s director Hasan Koraytem and the Custom’s director-general Badri Daher in the context of the investigations into the catastrophic blast which rocked Beirut port on August 4, 2020.

The blast, caused by the explosion of a big amount of ammonium nitrate stealthily stored in one of the port’s warehouses, claimed around 185 martyrs and injured more than 6000 people, obliterating the port and damaging a large number of buildings in Beirut and the suburbs.
