Cooperation and Charity exercise begins by providing 60k aid packages for the needy

Hawzah News Agency (Mashhad - Iran) - Struck by the second wave of the coronavirus outbreak, the second phase of Mowasat exercise and the empathy of the servants of Imam Reza (AS) entitled Cooperation and Charity commenced in the holy shrine with the aim of helping the needy in Mashhad.

Reza Khakshour, in charge of conducting the program stated that upon an order by the chief custodian of Astan Quds Razavi the project began by providing 30,000 livelihood packages to help the needy and vulnerable groups in Mashhad.

“Since the beginning of the outbreak, the implementation of various stages of AQR support projects has been carried out with the participation of different walks of the people, donors and AQR servants,” he said.

Referring to the quality of the first phase of the Cooperation and Charity exercise during the holy month of Ramadan, he noted, “This program started with the preparation of 8,000 packages by the servants and public donations in Imam Khomeini portico and extended to 42,000 packages.”

During the first stage, every day, the process of packing, loading and moving the packages was done by 270 servants in Imam Khomeini portico and every night, the prepared packages were distributed by 300 vehicles, along with 600 servants in low-income areas on the outskirts of Mashhad.

The packages include 14 items worth 200,000 Tomans. “In total, about one thousand servants were involved in implementation of this spiritual program every day during the holy month of Ramadan.”

According to Khakshour, during the second phase about 2,000 servants are at work for packaging process and they prepare about 500 aid packages daily.

“In the first days of this phase, 30,000 packages will be supplied and distributed and a total of at least 60,000 packages during 4 months is expected,” he observed.

The official further noted that the packages include 14 basic items, including rice, pasta, oil, tomato paste, cheese, soy, beans, potatoes, rock candy, hand sanitizer, disinfectant and cultural products. In total, it is worth about 300,000 Tomans.
