Iranian cleric writes to President of Vatican Pontifical Council

Head of the Islamic Research Institute at Iranian Parliament wrote a letter to President of the Vatican Pontifical Council in which he appreciated the Cardinal's recent remarks on promoting inter-religious dialogues.

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – Member of the Iranian Assembly of Experts, Hujjat al-Islam Ahmad Moballeqi wrote a letter to Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, President of the Vatican Pontifical Council in which he thanked the Christian Cardinal for his recent stance regarding interfaith talks.

In his letter, the Iranian cleric asserted, "The Vatican's new efforts to promote proximity between Muslims and Christians will most certainly provide fresh grounds for more interfaith talks in order to promote peaceful coexistence among followers of different religions."

"Now more than ever, it's become manifest to all people around the world that religions must seize the available opportunities to promote religious proximity on an international scale. Through this path, religions are capable to boost spirituality, security, friendship as well as compassion among societies," the letter read.

Previously, Cardinal Tauran had written a letter to Hujjat al-Islam Moballeqi to congratulate him on the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr. In his letter, the Christian cardinal urged Muslims and Christians to boost mutual ties and engage in more interreligious dialogues.  He also invited Muslims and Christians to share their ideas on ways to address critical issues in the present era.
