Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at the start of the Guardian Council's session on Wednesday, Ayatollah Jannati pointed to the anniversary of the 17 Shahrivar uprising and the Pahlavi regime's brutal crackdown on the Iranian people, saying the nation has stood against arrogant powers for years and has learned that resistance is the only way to prevent the global arrogance from achieving its goals.
The Guardian Council secretary praised the powerful response of Iran's armed forces to the enemy's recent aggression against Iranian soil and its targeting of oil tankers, saying: "The powerful action of Iran's armed forces in response to US aggression and in striking its interests and equipment proved that Iran will not bow to bullying and threats."
He stressed: "The enemies of Islamic Iran must know that any pressure or aggression will be met with a firmer response."
Need to trust domestic capacities
Ayatollah Jannati also described the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps' seizure of an advanced American submarine as another manifestation of the Islamic Republic of Iran's power, adding that this power stems from faith and relies on knowledge, intelligence, technology and the ability to identify and confront the enemy's most advanced tools.
He said such achievements should give the people greater hope and confidence in the capabilities of the country's youth and its domestic capacities.
Need for jihadist spirit in the economy
In another part of his remarks, the Guardian Council secretary stressed the need to take the economic war as seriously as the military battlefield, noting: "The enemy knows that if it cannot defeat the Iranian nation through war and military attack, it may try to do so through economic pressure and by making life harder for the people. Therefore, confronting this war cannot be done through speeches and advice alone."
He noted: "The same spirit of jihad, dynamism, speed of action and command that exists on the military battlefield must also be seen in the economic battlefield."
