Hawzah News Agency- Ayatollah Javad Marvi, a member of Iran's Supreme Council of Seminaries and second secretary of the body, made the remarks at the end of his advanced jurisprudence class, according to the Hawzah News Agency.
'A Siege That Is a Lesson for All Nations'
Congratulating the "oppressed and resilient people of Yemen," Ayatollah Marvi said he had received information from inside Yemen beyond what has been publicly reported.
"For 12 years, the sons of Banu Umayya and Banu Marwan have besieged this oppressed nation — a siege so severe it is a lesson for all the nations of the world. Yet these people stood firm and resisted," he said.
Addressing "fair-minded Sunnis" worldwide, he asked how the people of Yemen stood for Palestine and Gaza, sacrificing everything and showing solidarity in word and deed — while "the sons of Banu Umayya and Banu Marwan" among Sunnis did nothing for them. "Within 12 hours, their plans were rolled up, and what they did will become clear in the future," he said.
He noted that in recent days, Turkey and Saudi Arabia coordinated to send thousands of Takfiri forces from Istanbul and Saudi Arabia into Yemen, placing "the Umayyads against the followers of Imam Ali (PBUH)" when they saw the siege was about to break. "But the Yemeni people achieved a victory that will become clear in the future," he added.
Taliban's 'Irrational' Moves
Turning to Afghanistan, Ayatollah Marvi condemned the Taliban government's "particular reading" of Islam, saying it began with "undesirable and irrational actions" from the outset.
He noted that the Taliban deprived half the country's population — women — of education and social participation, then began targeting followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT), stripping them of their rights and closing Hussainiyas and religious centers.
"Today they attacked the very large seminary in Kabul, the Khatam al-Nabiyyin (PBUH) seminary, arrested young seminary students, and according to reports beat them and took some professors away," he said.
'Read Your Own History'
Addressing Taliban clerics directly, Ayatollah Marvi said: "If you are educated, read for yourselves; if not, ask someone to read you the history of Afghanistan — that the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) in this country were the cause of its survival and its territorial integrity. They sacrificed their lives for Afghanistan and ensured its national security, elevating the spirit of brotherhood and affection with their Sunni brothers."
He urged them to study how their own ancestors treated Shias — a community present in Afghanistan since the first century of Islam. "Whatever violence and bloodshed your ancestors committed against Shias, they could not suppress them. They grew more flourishing every day, and communities of them carry the banner of the faith in Europe and America."
"I say to you: stop this. Your ancestors could achieve nothing. You, too, should stop — for you can achieve nothing. Scholars and the great figures of the seminary are monitoring your behavior and will deal with you appropriately in due course," he warned.
