The Cowardly Muslim: A Discordant Patch on the Body of the Islamic Ummah

The cowardly and weak Muslim not only has no place in the logic of divine revelation, but by ignoring the most crucial "righteous deed" — namely, enraging the front of disbelief — they practically step onto the path of eternal loss.

Hawzah News Agency- In Quranic thought, "faith" is intertwined with "honor," and in the discourse of the Quran, there is no place for the intimidated and weak Muslim. The confrontation between the front of "faith" and the front of "disbelief" is an unchangeable tradition; for disbelief is inherently in conflict with the manifestation of pure Islam and expends all its power to extinguish the divine light (although the divine light is inextinguishable). In such a battlefield, silence, passivity, and fear of the enemy are not merely "caution" but signify a departure from the orbit of monotheism.

In depicting the image of the believer, the Holy Quran presents a strategic definition of "righteous deed" that has been forgotten amidst the clamor of today's diminished interpretations of the faithful human being:

"No thirst, weariness, or hunger befalls them in the path of God; nor do they step into any place that enrages the disbelievers, nor do they gain any gain from an enemy, except that a righteous deed is recorded for them [in their record] because of it." (Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 120)

In the current analysis of Islamic societies, "righteous deed" is often reduced to individual rituals (prayer, fasting, almsgiving, etc.). However, according to the logic of the mentioned verse, "enraging the enemies of God" is itself a fundamental righteous deed — the very turning point whose lack of understanding has dragged the Islamic Ummah into passivity throughout history.

To better understand the righteous deed referred to in the aforementioned verse, we refer to Surah Al-Asr:

"By the time! Indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience."

If we consider the words of God Almighty in Surah Al-Asr as the scale for measuring salvation, we will find that exiting "eternal loss" is only possible through "faith," one of the most important indicators of which is "righteous deed." From the Quran's perspective, one of the actions considered a "righteous deed" — which removes its doer from the circle of losers — is "stepping into a path that enrages the disbelievers."

The verse under discussion is a strategic truth that the Islamic Ummah must return to in order to free itself from the bonds of colonialism and despotism. Neglect of this principle does not only lead to material and spiritual loss but results in the distortion of Islamic identity.

In the logic of the Quran, the weak, passive, and cowardly Muslim does not stand in the ranks of the soldiers of the front of truth; for "honor" belongs to God, His Messenger, and the believers. Therefore, any movement on the front of truth that does not enrage the enemies of God's religion must have its revolutionary and faith-based authenticity doubted...
