Hawzah News Agency- Mustafa Deebo, also known as Kamil Mustafa Dawud, delivered a stirring rendition of Imam Khomeini's famous mystical poem beginning with "I became captivated by the mole on your lip, O beloved" — a work widely regarded as a masterpiece of spiritual literature from the architect of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
CROSSING BORDERS, TOUCHING HEARTS
The event, organized by the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia, took place at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Hussainiyah in Jakarta. It was attended by Iranian expatriates, Indonesian Muslim figures, cultural personalities, and seekers of Islamic knowledge.
Deebo, the lead vocalist of the internationally recognized group Debo, which blends traditional, mystical, and spiritual music, also performed the devotional piece "Mowla Ali" and recited poetry in praise of the Ahlul Bayt (PBUT).
His performances were met with overwhelming enthusiasm from the crowd.
A TRIBUTE FROM A CONVERTED HEART
Before reciting Imam Khomeini's poetry, Deebo offered brief remarks explaining his deep reverence for the late leader. He described Imam Khomeini's legacy not merely as political, but as profoundly spiritual and universal.
"Imam Khomeini's poetry is filled with divine love, mysticism, and spirituality," Deebo stated. "It can move diverse audiences beyond linguistic and national borders."
The singer framed his performance as a personal tribute to the Imam's intellectual and spiritual heritage — a striking gesture coming from an artist born in the United States, now living and working in the world's largest Muslim-majority nation.
SOFT POWER OF THE REVOLUTION ON DISPLAY
The ceremony was not limited to musical performances. It included speeches, cultural presentations, eulogies, and discussions on the multi-dimensional personality and thought of Imam Khomeini (RA), all while celebrating the pivotal Eid of Ghadir — the event where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) famously declared Imam Ali (AS) as the master of all believers.
For observers, the sight of an American-born singer passionately reciting Iranian revolutionary poetry in the heart of Southeast Asia underscores a broader reality: the spiritual and cultural influence of the Islamic Republic continues to expand, long after the physical departure of its founder.
A GROWING MOVEMENT
Mustafa Deebo's group, Debo, has gained international recognition for performances that center on divine love, spirituality, peace, morality, and devotion to the Ahlul Bayt (PBUT). The group has performed across numerous Islamic and non-Islamic countries, drawing wide and diverse audiences.
The Jakarta event, Deebo suggested, was more than a performance. It was proof that the message of Ghadir and the mystical path of Imam Khomeini (RA) resonate far beyond the borders of Iran — reaching even those born in the heart of the West.
