Arafah Is God's Summons to Repentance and Servitude: Pakistan's Top Shia Cleric

A senior Pakistani Shia leader has described the Day of Arafah as a divine call to return to one's true self and cling to the mantle of Wilayah, framing the sacred day as a launching pad toward the station of complete submission and divine contentment.

Hawzah News Agency- In a message issued on the eve of Arafah and the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Muslim ibn Aqil (PBUH), Hojatoleslam Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, head of the Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan, declared the occasion a platform for spiritual transformation and the renewal of allegiance to the ideals of Wilayah.

Arafah: The Day Even Unborn Children Are Not Deprived of Mercy

The Pakistani scholar opened his message by defining Arafah as the day of seeking forgiveness and turning back toward the Almighty.

"The Day of Arafah is a day on which God Almighty has summoned His servants to a banquet of worship and obedience," Naqvi stated. "On this day, it is befitting for every human being to smooth the path of their worldly and eternal salvation with a soul overflowing with divine attraction."

Invoking the radiant conduct of the Infallible Imams (PBUT), the head of Pakistan's Shia Ulema Council cited a powerful narration from Imam Zain al-Abideen (PBUH): "It is narrated that Imam Sajjad (PBUH), on the Day of Arafah, heard the voice of a beggar asking people for help. The Imam said to him: 'Woe to you! On such a day, do you ask from other than God? While on this very day, it is hoped that divine grace and mercy will even reach the fetuses in their mothers' wombs, and they too will not be deprived of the blessings of this day.'"

Hojatoleslam Naqvi stressed the necessity of performing the prescribed acts of worship for this day, noting that the prayer manuals record valuable deeds such as ritual bathing, fasting, and, most significantly, the pilgrimage supplication of Imam Hussein (PBUH) — each of which shortens the path to nearness with the Divine.

Muslim ibn Aqil: The Ultimate Blueprint of Duty-Bound Obedience

In the second section of his message, the Pakistani cleric turned to the martyrdom anniversary of Karbala's ambassador, portraying Hazrat Muslim ibn Aqil (PBUH) as the very symbol of insight and absolute obedience to the Imam of his time.

"Hazrat Muslim held the towering honor of being recognized as the special deputy of the Proof of God," Naqvi declared. "By standing firm against falsehood and making the word of truth resound, he traced the loftiest model of loyalty."

He underscored that Muslim's sacrifice was not confined to his own life. The martyrdom of his young children on this path stands as testimony to an unshakeable truth: for the glory of religion and divine ideals, no sacrifice and no act of selflessness must ever be withheld.

The Envoy to Kufa: From Alienation to Immortality

Offering a penetrating analysis of Hazrat Muslim's historic mission to Kufa, the prominent Pakistani scholar remarked: "A meticulous examination of the conduct and life of Hazrat Muslim ibn Aqil reveals just how far a duty-bound human being can advance in the path of upholding the truth. This scion of Hashemite courage, the noble son of Aqil ibn Abi Talib, accepted the arduous mission of dispatching to Kufa and shouldered countless hardships and cruelties, yet never retreated a single step from the path of Wilayah."

Naqvi concluded: "Imam Hussein's (PBUH) selection of Hazrat Muslim, in response to the countless letters from the people of Kufa, is a testament to his lofty station, his sagacity, and the absolute trust the Imam placed in him. His struggles remain etched in history as an allegory of self-sacrifice and courage, and for all eternity, they will blaze like a radiant torch guiding the free of the world along the path of obedience to divine leadership."
