Former Turkish President’s ‘Belated Confession’: Israel Is the Main Cause of Regional Suffering

In a rare and candid address at the Delphi Economic Forum, Abdullah Gül has admitted what the global resistance front has long declared: the Zionist regime is responsible for the ongoing crises, while the United States’ image lies in tatters across the Persian Gulf.

Hawzah News Agency- In what many are calling a long-overdue acknowledgment, Turkey’s 11th president, Abdullah Gül, has openly declared that Israel bears primary responsibility for the suffering and anguish gripping West Asia. Speaking at the Delphi Economic Forum in Greece, Gül dissected the destructive trajectory of recent wars and their far-reaching consequences.

Gül’s remarks stand out as a significant crack in the narrative of Western-backed impunity for Israeli crimes, coming from a senior Turkish statesman with decades of political experience.

US Hegemony Crumbling, Persian Gulf States Losing Trust

Gül did not mince words about the eroding status of the United States. He stated that as a result of the ongoing wars in West Asia—particularly the aggression against Gaza, Iran, and Lebanon—"the image of the United States has been damaged," and critically, "the Persian Gulf states have lost their confidence in American power."

The former president noted that even U.S. officials admit Tehran does not pose an immediate threat to America, yet Washington continues its unlawful strikes against Iran—actions that Gül warned would set a dangerous precedent for other world powers to violate international law.

“The United States, through such behavior, opens the door for illegal actions by other powers as well,” he cautioned.

Genocide in Gaza: A Matter of UN Reports

Echoing findings from UN experts and international human rights organizations, Gül declared that the situation in Gaza has escalated into outright genocide.

“According to expert opinions and UN reports, the situation in Gaza has turned into genocide,” he said, condemning the attacks against Gaza, Iran, and Lebanon as destructive and as gross violations of human rights and international norms.

He emphasized that these operations disregarded established international rules, leading to widespread civilian casualties and the systematic destruction of infrastructure.

Isolated Israel: The Root Cause of Regional Crisis

Gül asserted that Israel is now more isolated than ever before. He traced the persistent negative atmosphere in the region directly to Tel Aviv’s continued policies of illegal occupation, settlement expansion, and the so-called “buffer zone” strategy against neighboring countries.

“Israel is responsible for the suffering in the region,” Gül stated bluntly. “As long as the policies of buffer zones, occupation, and illegal settlements against neighboring countries continue, the negative climate in the region will not change.”

Strait of Hormuz: A New Strategic Flashpoint

The former Turkish president also pointed to the Strait of Hormuz as a new challenge, warning that global energy supplies have been negatively impacted by the ongoing hostilities—a direct consequence, he implied, of Washington and Tel Aviv’s adventurism.

A ‘Belated Confession’ or a Strategic Pivot?

While Gül is no longer in office, his words carry weight in diplomatic circles. Observers suggest that this “belated confession” reflects growing unease even among traditional U.S. allies—including Turkey and Persian Gulf monarchies—about Washington’s destructive role in the region.

From Hawzah News’ perspective, Gül’s statements reaffirm what the Islamic Republic and the Axis of Resistance have maintained for decades: that Israel is the source of instability, and that American power is not only waning but has become a liability rather than a guarantee of security.

As the world witnesses a tectonic shift in global alliances, such admissions—however delayed—signal that the tide of public opinion and elite consensus is turning against the Zionist regime and its chief enforcer, the United States.
