Hawzah News Agency- Faisal Absara, a mosque official, noted that attendance this year has significantly increased compared to previous years. He attributed the rise in numbers partly to a growing number of converts to Islam in the area.
While more than 1,000 people attended the opening of Ramadan, Absara said the number of worshippers is expected to rise further throughout the month, especially during major Islamic celebrations such as Eid al-Adha, when attendance could reach hundreds of thousands.
Absara emphasized that Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink. It is also a time for self-discipline, spiritual reflection, and strengthening one’s relationship with God. He added that the holy month encourages believers to avoid wrongdoing and to be mindful of those in need.
The peaceful observance of the first day of Ramadan marks the beginning of a month dedicated to prayer, generosity, and spiritual growth for the Muslim community in the Philippines.
