Hezbollah MP: Pressure on Iran Stems from Its Independent Stance and Support for Resistance

A senior Hezbollah lawmaker says mounting political, military, and economic pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran is the result of its independent foreign policy and steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and regional resistance movements.

Hawzah News Agency- Hassan Fadlallah, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc, made the remarks during a commemorative ceremony held by Hezbollah in the southern Lebanese town of Bazourieh to honor fallen resistance fighters.

Warning Against Israeli Ambitions in South Lebanon

Fadlallah warned of renewed attempts by Israel to return settlers to areas near the Lebanese border, describing such moves as part of a long-standing expansionist agenda.

He recalled that similar efforts were made during the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon, but were thwarted by the resistance in southern Lebanon. He urged Lebanese citizens not to remain indifferent to repeated attempts to entrench Israeli presence near border regions, particularly in areas south of the Litani River.

“The people of the South must remain steadfast on their land and defend it,” he said, adding that the Lebanese government bears full responsibility for safeguarding national sovereignty through its official institutions.

Criticism of Government Policy

The Hezbollah MP stressed that the core problem in Lebanon lies in political decision-making rather than in the performance of security forces.

He said the current official approach relies heavily on diplomacy, but argued that diplomatic efforts have so far failed to halt Israeli violations, protect citizens, or secure reconstruction.

“Diplomacy does not mean surrender,” Fadlallah said. “The decision of war and peace cannot be reduced to submission to the Zionist enemy.”

He reiterated that Hezbollah’s position is that the Lebanese state, with all its institutions, must act decisively to stop Israeli aggression and ensure reconstruction in affected areas.

Reconstruction and Economic Pressure

Fadlallah acknowledged the severe economic hardships facing Lebanese families, particularly in frontline villages, and emphasized that reconstruction is a national priority that should be removed from partisan disputes.

He criticized the United States of waging a comprehensive campaign against Hezbollah that extends beyond the military sphere to include financial, political, media, and psychological pressure.

According to Fadlallah, Washington is working “day and night” to prevent funds from reaching Hezbollah and, by extension, Lebanese communities aligned with the resistance.

Despite the financial siege and external pressure, he said Hezbollah will continue to fulfill its responsibilities toward its constituents, while insisting that the primary burden of reconstruction lies with the Lebanese state.

Parliamentary Elections and Political Presence

Turning to domestic politics, Fadlallah affirmed that Hezbollah will participate in upcoming parliamentary elections with what he described as a firm commitment to its principles and alliances, particularly with the Amal Movement.

“Our strength is not only in our weapons, but in our people,” he said, emphasizing that popular support forms the backbone of any resistance movement or state.

He stressed that no political force will be able to marginalize Hezbollah from Lebanon’s internal power-sharing framework, adding that the movement considers itself an integral component of the Lebanese state.

Iran Under Pressure for Supporting Resistance

Addressing regional developments, Fadlallah said the presence of Western naval forces around Iran reflects ongoing efforts to intimidate the country.

He stated that since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran has provided sustained political and material support to Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements without seeking compensation.

“If Iran had limited itself to political and media support, it would not have faced this level of hostility,” he said, arguing that decades of sanctions and threats are rooted in Tehran’s refusal to submit to Western dominance.

Fadlallah praised Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation, expressing confidence that Iran will withstand external pressure as it has done over the past four decades.

“All these pressures and threats against the Islamic Republic are because it is an independent country that stands with our just cause and with the oppressed Palestinian people,” he said. “And just as Iran has stood with us, it is our duty to stand with it.”
