Hawzah News Agency- Muhammad ibn Ali Majilawaih narrated from his uncle Muhammad ibn Abi al-Qasim who narrated from Ahmad ibn Abi Abd Allah al-Barqi, from his father Muhammad ibn Khalid, from Muhammad ibn Sinan, from Ibrahim ibn Abi Ziyad that Imam Sadiq (pbuh) said:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَکَ وَ تَعَالَی أَهْبَطَ مَلَکاً إِلَی الْأَرْضِ فَلَبِثَ فِیهَا دَهْراً طَوِیلًا ثُمَّ عَرَجَ إِلَی السَّمَاءِ فَقِیلَ لَهُ مَا رَأَیْتَ فَقَالَ رَأَیْتُ عَجَائِبَ کَثِیرَهً وَ أَعْجَبُ مَا رَأَیْتُ أَنِّی رَأَیْتُ عَبْداً مُتَقَلِّباً فِی نِعْمَتِکَ یَأْکُلُ رِزْقَکَ وَ یَدَّعِی الرُّبُوبِیَّهَ فَعَجِبْتُ مِنْ جُرْأَتِهِ عَلَیْکَ وَ مِنْ حِلْمِکَ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ فَمِنْ حِلْمِی عَجِبْتَ قَالَ نَعَمْ یَا رَبِّ قَالَ قَدْ أَمْهَلْتُهُ أَرْبَعَمِائَهِ سَنَهٍ لَا یَضْرِبُ عَلَیْهِ عِرْقٌ وَ لَا یُرِیدُ مِنَ الدُّنْیَا شَیْئاً إِلَّا نَالَهُ وَ لَا یَتَغَیَّرُ عَلَیْهِ فِیهَا مَطْعَمٌ وَ لَا مَشْرَبٌ.
Indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, sent down an angel to the earth, who stayed there for a long time. Then he ascended to the heavens,
and it was said to him: ‘What have you seen?’
- He replied: ‘I saw many wonders, but the most astonishing thing I saw was that I saw a servant of Yours, who was overwhelmed by Your blessings, consuming Your sustenance, and claiming divinity. I was astonished at his audacity towards You and at Your forbearance with him.’
- Allah, the Exalted, said: ‘You are astonished at My forbearance?’
- He replied: ‘Yes, O Lord.’
- He [Allah] said: ‘I have delayed him for four hundred years, during which no vein has been struck upon him, and he does not desire anything from the world except that he obtains it, and nothing changes for him in it—neither food nor drink.’
