Iranian Seminaries Vow to Block Enemy Infiltration

The Center for the Management of Iran’s Seminaries has issued a statement marking the 48th anniversary of the historic January uprising in the holy city of Qom, describing it as a decisive moment in Iran’s contemporary history and reaffirming the seminaries’ commitment to safeguarding national unity against foreign-backed destabilization efforts.

Hawzah News Agency- The uprising, which took place in January 1978 (19 Dey 1356 in the Iranian calendar), is widely regarded as one of the pivotal catalysts of the Islamic Revolution that culminated in the overthrow of the Pahlavi monarchy in 1979.

The full text of the statement is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

January is not merely a passage of time on the calendar; it represents an eruption of consciousness and a radiant turning point in history. In the darkest days of Pahlavi despotism, the faithful people of Qom placed their chests before bullets so that the sanctity of divine authority and guardianship (wilaya) would remain unbroken.

The January 1978 uprising in Qom marked a fundamental turning point and the beginning of a mass movement that ultimately brought an end to more than 2,500 years of monarchical tyranny in Iran. On that decisive day, when the propaganda apparatus of the Pahlavi regime—acting on the direct orders of Mohammad Reza Shah—dared to insult and defame Imam Ruhollah Khomeini, the religious and revolutionary people of Qom, guided by the vigilant clergy, rose in righteous anger.

Their cries of Allahu Akbar (God is Great) echoed far beyond the streets of Qom, revealing to the world the unbreakable bond between the Iranian nation and its religious leadership, and demonstrating that the people’s faith constituted an impenetrable barrier against cultural, political, and ideological aggression.

Today, as we commemorate the 48th anniversary of that historic epic in January 2026, the flames of the same awareness and resistance are visible far beyond Iran’s borders—from Gaza and Lebanon to all fronts of resistance confronting oppression and occupation. Just as the blood of the martyrs of Qom in January 1978 shook the foundations of the Niavaran Palace, the same revolutionary spirit today has undermined the fragile pillars of Zionism and exposed the accelerating decline of Western hegemonic dominance.

The Center for the Management of Seminaries, while honoring the memory of the martyrs of the January uprising and all those who have sacrificed their lives in defense of dignity, independence, and Islamic authority, declares that the seminaries—standing shoulder to shoulder with the great nation of Iran—will continue to closely monitor emerging seditions and hybrid warfare projects orchestrated by hostile powers. With full vigilance, they will not allow the enemies of Iran to infiltrate or fracture the nation’s unified ranks.

Once again, the students and scholars of the seminaries renew their pledge of allegiance to the rightful deputy of the Imam of the Age, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and affirm their unwavering resolve to stand firm—until the last drop of blood if necessary—in the path of upholding divine values, advancing justice, and realizing the vision of a modern Islamic civilization.
