Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a memorial ceremony for martyr Issa Abdullah Amr, Sheikh Muhammad Amr, head of Hezbollah’s Mount Lebanon and North region, said efforts to pressure Lebanon politically would not produce results so long as unity and internal cohesion continue to underpin the country’s resilience.
The ceremony, organized by Hezbollah in cooperation with the martyr’s family, was attended by religious scholars, social activists, municipal council members, local residents, and families of martyrs. Issa Abdullah Amr was martyred during the battle of “Oli al-Bas” while defending Lebanon and its people.
Addressing the gathering, Sheikh Amr emphasized that abandoning one of Lebanon’s fundamental pillars—national solidarity—is neither realistic nor achievable. “Those who imagine that Lebanon can be weakened by dismantling its core foundations are chasing illusions,” he said.
He reiterated that the resistance seeks a Lebanon that remains free, independent, and sovereign, and that preserves its rich religious and cultural diversity, particularly Islamic-Christian coexistence. In contrast, he warned that certain isolationist currents are working to sow division, fuel hostility, and promote hatred among different segments of Lebanese society.
Sheikh Amr also called on political groups aligned with foreign agendas and overly influenced by regional and international developments to reassess their approach. He warned that Lebanon cannot recover or function effectively if some actors continue to make concessions that yield no tangible national gains.
“At a time when political, economic, media, and psychological pressures are intensifying,” he said, “all Lebanese are called upon to act with unity and collective responsibility to protect the homeland.”
He concluded by stressing that only through solidarity and joint efforts can Lebanon withstand external pressures and safeguard its sovereignty and social cohesion.
