Iranian Reciters, Memorizers Take Part in Bangladesh’s Quranic “Readers’ Association” Programs

Iranian Quran reciters and memorizers participated in a series of international Quranic programs organized by the “Readers’ Association” of Bangladesh, aimed at promoting Quranic recitation, memorization, and deeper engagement with the Holy Quran.

Hawzah News Agency- The Quranic event began on December 18, 2025, at Dhaka’s Baitul Mukarram Mosque and continued until December 26, 2025, with Quranic circles held in the capital and several other cities across Bangladesh.

The programs coincided with the fourth International Quran Memorization and Recitation Competition and brought together prominent reciters and memorizers from various countries, including Iran, Egypt, Indonesia, Algeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and others. The event placed special emphasis on Quranic circles, while the competitive segment was considered of secondary importance.

Iran’s representatives attended the event in coordination with the Iranian Cultural Counselor’s Office and the International Center for Quran Propagation under the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization. Ishaq Abdollahi represented Iran in the research-based recitation category, while Mehdi Barandeh competed in the full memorization discipline.

The opening ceremony at Baitul Mukarram Mosque was attended by senior religious and diplomatic figures, including the Algerian ambassador to Dhaka, Seyyed Reza Mirmohammadi, Iran’s cultural counselor in Bangladesh, and Abdul Salam Khan, president of the Islamic Foundation of Bangladesh, who delivered speeches on behalf of the participating countries and the host nation.

In his address, Iran’s cultural counselor emphasized the central role of the Holy Quran in addressing the challenges facing the Muslim world, saying that proper understanding and implementation of Quranic teachings remain the most effective path toward unity, progress, and overcoming external pressures.

In the research recitation competition, Iran’s Ishaq Abdollahi secured second place, while participants from Indonesia and Egypt took first and third places, respectively. In the full memorization category, Mehdi Barandeh finished fourth, with reciters from India and Bangladesh claiming the top three positions.

Iranian participants were warmly received by Bangladeshi audiences and fellow reciters, drawing notable attention during Quranic circles and public programs in Dhaka and other cities.

The event concluded with the presentation of cash prizes to participating reciters and memorizers from different countries, marking the successful conclusion of a Quranic gathering aimed at strengthening cultural and Quran-centered ties among Muslim nations.
